Just like that, 2022 is halfway over! There is a lot of positivity to relay from the last month. There is also plenty of celebration to come with July 4th and my first item of note below:

• Community Appreciation Day — Mark your calendars! We are turning July 4th weekend into a multi-day event and kicking it off with a Community Appreciation Day, described in the video above. I hope you’ll come to the Lawn of the Art Museums on July 3rd for a load of fun, including live music, Sno-to-Go, a community art project, and more!
• 2022 National Community Survey — Biennially speaking, it’s that time of year again. We have released our every-other-year survey to 2,800 residents. If you received a postcard discussing this, PLEASE be sure to take the time and respond with your thoughts on our quality of life, mobility, safety, etc. If you’re curious, the results of our 2020 Survey are here.
• Juneteenth 2022 — Williamsburg went back-to-back-to-back this past weekend for an even bigger Juneteenth than last year. Community groups like Williamsburg Action and The Village Initiative, plus our core institutions of William & Mary and Colonial Williamsburg, all held commemorative celebrations marking the day that, in 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were finally made aware of their freedom. • Affordable housing approval — One of the things our Affordable Housing Workgroup identified is our need for more housing across many income levels. For this reason, in the linked agenda linked, you will find a proposed development (5B) that Council is quite excited about. The City sold this land parcel to Cale Developments in order to bring in a lower price point of housing to Williamsburg. For 15 additional units, Cale Development agreed to sell those units at $100,000 less than the rest of the development while also instituting an income-restriction for those willing to buy them.
