Newsletter — January 2022

The first month of 2022 is down! I hope you have had a nice beginning to the new year. The City hasn’t missed a beat, so I have two important updates below:

• Newly launched on our website is the Performance Dashboard. This can be found under the “Open Government” tab in the green ribbon portion of the main screen. This Dashboard is the City’s effort to be transparent with data collected around everything from EMS response times to park visitation (pictured above and far above goal!). I hope you’ll take a look and keep an eye on areas of interest.
• We concluded the month (technically right at the beginning of February) with our Budget Retreat. This is a multi-month process that will include the opportunity for public comment before budget adoption in the early Spring.
• As a final add-on, I was able to speak with “Flyin’ Brian”, on WMBG radio last week. We covered the City’s precautions around our impending snowfall, along with talking new CDC guidance regarding the Covid-19 Omicron variant. As always, your best option to stay safe from a severe case is vaccination. Go to vaccinate.virginia.gov to learn more!
