Good afternoon!

I am excited to welcome in this new year in just a few days. Beforehand, I thought it would be best to review December before the month is officially over. Read until the end to find Williamsburg’s fun New Year’s Eve plans!

  • State of the City — Every two years, the City Council holds a “State of the City” meeting to update Williamsburg’s residents on current City focuses and future goals. During the pandemic, however, we weren’t able to convene in-person, so we decided to turn this event into a video and release the digital version. That has stuck! In launching this year’s video, we also gave the inaugural Mace Bearer’s award to Jim Joseph, who was recognized for his many years of service to the Neighborhood Council of Williamsburg. Check out the full video above and Jim’s congratulatory video here!
  • Williamsburg Downtown — We are overjoyed to welcome Santa back this year. Vice Mayor Pat Dent, Councilman Maslin, and I had a nice time meeting the big man recently (pictured above). You can read about Santa sightings and many fun events in the area at the “Williamsburg Downtown” Facebook page linked above.
  • Andrea Donnor appointed to School Board — At our December meeting, the Council chose Andrea Donnor to represent Williamsburg as a member of our joint Williamsburg James City County School Board. Andrea will join the Board after Kyra Cook completed her successful term of service. We are looking forward to working with Andrea to ensure Williamsburg has a fantastic school system.
  • NYE Free Community Celebration — If you haven’t yet planned out your NYE, check out this FREE CultureFix VA event at the Art Museums Lawn of CW. They’ll have a great band, good food, and a live streaming of the ball drop!

May your 2023 get off to a wonderful start.

With gratitude,

Caleb
